Lets Talk... Bass to Bass

Most of you know of my favourite band - 聖飢魔II or Seikima II.
They were supposedly demons from the underworld who prophesied the end of the world being year 2000. Thus their band name Seikima II, which means the end of the century when you read it out in full (seikima two). After their final 3 night concert, the guys went off in a stairway of light which ended their conquest of earth. In reality, the members went their own ways, with His Excellency Demon Kogure doing a solo act, Luke Takamura and Raiden Yuzawa doing the group CANTA, Ace Shimizu doing his own Face to Ace act and Xenon Ishikawa joining the band RX.

My favourite member of the team would be Xenon, who's a monster with the bass. I like how he rarely uses the pick (don't remember seeing him using it except for in Jack The Ripper with the Satan All Stars). I have nothing against pick bassists, I just feel that fingered notes have a stronger sound to them. It's like when using picks they give a 'tak' kinda start to the sound rather than the 'bum' sound for the bass.

Here are some solos that are performed by Xenon, most often together with Raiden while the rest are either changing, resting or in the toilet?

Crazy camera cuts make a painful eye, but great music nonetheless.

No offense to X-Japan lovers but once my friend showed me this clip of Heath doing a solo with his ''bass'', I didn't really like it... I have my reasons and I believe I am entitled to my freedom of opinion... Personally I think that a Bass should sound like a Bass. Why throw in crazy effects just to make it sound like an electric guitar? Wouldn't it make more sense to slip on another guitar instead? It's like having a man trying to sound like a woman - gay.

I realised something very special about us Chinese people, or any fair skinned races in fact.
We are highly prone to sunburns...

Today went to chatuchak weekend market with Posay, the Burmese guy. As of all saturdays, I was in my singlet.
When I returned to the appartment, I realised a certain tightness to my face, so I took a look at the mirror.

To my horror, it was red! took off a singlet and you could see a huge contrast! It's like having an invisible singlet on!

Luckily I am the kind that will fade back to my original skin colour pretty fast.
For now you can call me MM Lim, Merah Manjen Lim!

Personally with regards to Nair's case, it's a rare case of a lose-lose situation.
PAP looked bad by overreacting and for the first time persecuting a blogger and foreigner.
Nair got into the same ranks as Chee Soon Juan, an all time low...

Regardless of whether they are pro-democratic or not, I simply think that we can all fight for democracy in a civilized way, not protesting at every single thing. Even if PAP falls, which I'm supportive of, I wouldn't want SDP to be the ruling party.

Another thing that caught my eye was that TODAY newspaper decided to tweak their headline a lil'.
I saw this from a blogger Uncle Yap's site.

Dormant Introvert Nature

Despite my noisy and sometimes vulgar nature, I've realised that I Indeed have a Dormant Introvert Nature (DIN).

It all began yesterday when I went to an event at the Foreign Correspondent's Club of Thailand (FCCT). Signed in and just looked dumb; there were so many people and it got me into a diam state. Just stood there and eventually started talking to a canadian guy, but that's the only thing I really did.

I also realised that whenever I wanted to make a phone call and ask questions, I'll be overcome with such a huge inferiority complexity that I end up talking gibberish and stuff... Perhaps it's because of the senior journalists in the office?

However I seem to be better when talking face to face...

New Song - Astounded. New article too!

Seems about time I should introduce a new song...
It's a whole new genre now.

I've changed the song to Astounded by Bran Van 3000 in the Album 'Discosis'.
The song features voice of Curtis Mayfield, who's never used that vocal piece after recording it in the 70's.

Curtis also had this interesting song called 'superfly' which was about his encounter with a fly in his kitchen which just wouldn't die despite a week of swatting and dodging. In the end he went to get a pesticide only to return finding the fly dead due to natural reasons...(this was taken from a comment in his youtube vid)

Coincidentally Superfly is the name of a retired pro-wrester, Jimmy Snuka.

Goodness Gracious Me!

I'm not saying I'm an aethist or whatsoever, although I am a free thinker.
But sometimes I really wonder if the monks are for real...

This morning went to eat at the noodle joint. Dude went to get something on his bicycle, so I ate alone at the table...
Who knew, it was bestowed upon me that a foreign monk(different set of robes, most likely from china) appeared at the doorstep and moved in, obviously here to beg for alms...

Took a look at the bowl, it was pretty full with a 20 baht note at the top, so i reached for my wallet and pulled out one 20baht note. Incidentally another 20baht note slipped out and caught the monk's eye... When i dropped the 20 baht note onto his bowl, HE ASKED FOR THE OTHER NOTE AS WELL!!!

I didn't want to start a fight cuz after all, I'm in a buddhist country after all. Fake or real it just looks bad on my part to be pulling a suplex to a monk in Thailand.
